Raising Cancer Awareness is important because by being better informed about cancer, people can significantly reduce their health risk, and enjoy a healthy and happy life. An understanding of cancer also makes people better able to support those with the disease, as well as help people reduce risks to potentially prevent cancers.

Cancer is a major burden of disease worldwide. Each year, tens of millions of people are diagnosed with cancer around the world, and more than half of the patients eventually die from it. In many countries, cancer ranks the second most common cause of death following cardiovascular diseases.
